My Mothers Movements

As a way to remember my mom who passed away when I was fourteen I embody her movements like the way she batted her eyelashes and put on mascara. I also reenact my memory of her sounds that were specific to her tone like the way she would clear her throat. I remember my mom most in the child home I grew up in, especially the kitchen. Moving around my own kitchen, cooking the same recipes my mom once did helps me bring back the small details that were unique to her. These videos are threaded together to create a three part projection installation where the viewer can simultaneously view multiple embodied movements with sound.
